Exclusive: Man Utd Set to Sunderland's 16-Year-Old Defender Logan Pye Ahead of Rivals

Pye's spent his entire youth career with the Black Cats, making 13 appearances in the Under-18 Premier League where he's played as a full-back or higher up the pitch in attack, and has already broken into England's Under-16 side.
His performances with Sunderland's youth teams have attracted serious interest from the Premier League's biggest clubs.
90min can reveal that it's Manchester United who are set to complete the signing of Pye, who's one of the most sought after young defenders in English football.
Sunderland have given permission for Pye to talk with Manchester United and he's currently in the north west to talk about personal terms.
ArsenalChelseaLiverpool and Manchester City had all enquired about Pye's availability but the 16-year-old is now closest to joining United.
Both Arsenal and Manchester United were also interested in signing the defender before the start of the season but they were forced to wait at least till Pye turned 16 in October.
Pye can play centrally as well as his natural position as a full-back, while the youngster has featured three times in midfield in the Premier League's Under-18 division.
He's scored his only goal for Sunderland at that level in a 6-1 defeat to West Brom, while he set up Josh Baggs' opener in September's Tyne-Wear derby.
